The Wolf! He had no legs!

January 30th, 2008 by Celia

OR, how I kick ass at making covers. *snort*

Check this out:

allmine-stjames_ofwitchesandwolves_400.jpgWoot!  This is my fave cover so far.  True, it’s only my third, but still my fave.  Maybe because so much work went into it….  I dunno.  To the casual observer, they may think it’s a conglomeration of three or so images.  In fact, it’s more like seven.  Seven images and I don’t know how many layers, but the result is worth it, I think.  *sigh*  This has nothing to do with my books, but since I did the cover and simply like looking at it, I thought I’d post it for ya’ll.

And to explain the title of this post… the original wolf image had his feet buried in snow.  Not good when I want the guy standing in a clearing, right?  I had to copy legs from a different wolf and paste them on to this guy.  Hence:  The wolf!  He had no legs!  LOL  Yeah, I’m weird.  I know.

Authors Pay it Forward

January 23rd, 2008 by Celia

Check it out!!!!  I’m sooo excited about this project and hopefully it will inspire other savvy authors to join up and help out the noobs.  :D

From Maura Anderson:
(Feel free and encouraged to forward)

Some of you may know me and know I’ m a huge believer in paying forward all the help that’ s been given to me.  Toward that end, my friend and fellow author Celia Kyle and I have banded together in an effort to start paying forward in a way we hope will make a difference to some new and aspiring authors.

One of the hardest things seems to be that many new and aspiring authors are constantly told how very important it is for them to have some sort of web presence and a website. It ’s true – a nice web presence that speaks to your style and writing is a huge advantage. But how many times is it nearly impossible to do if you aren ‘t technically savvy or have extra money to spend on the effort?

To help someone with this, I am donating a free, customized WordPress website template to a new or aspiring author. This is the design and installation but not web hosting and the design will be done by LS Designs ( http://lsdesigns.net/ ).

The rules are:

·       The entrant must have 3 or fewer published books at the time of entry. Please be honest J This includes self-published books.  I made this rule because I really want to focus the contest.

·       Only one entry per individual.

·       The winner will be randomly drawn from all entries using random.org and sequential entry numbers assigned in the order I receive entries.

·       The drawing is open until midnight on 3/31/2008, Pacific Time. Winner will be announced on 4/1/2008 and the winner will me emailed directly and have 90 days to redeem their prize.

·       No names or email addresses will be used for ANY other purpose, ever.

Celia has set up an entry form at http://authorspayitforward.blogspot.com/ .  Note that the question on the form about why you feel a web presence is merely for me to read and digest . It doesn’ t affect your chances of winning as this is a drawing, not an essay contest.

Whiny Beyotch.

January 14th, 2008 by Celia

You may not know this about me, but I am a whiny beyotch.  Don’t try to talk me out of this assessment… it’s true.  I know it, Mr. Kyle knows it, hell, the cats know it.

What does this have to do with today’s post?  Everything.  Why?  Because as I whined and lamented to Mr. Kyle about the utter LACK of reviews for my work, iseemedtohaveoverlookedafew.

Ahem.  I seemed to have overlooked a few.  Yes, you heard that right.  I whined and bitched and JERR had reviewed, like, oodles of my books.  Oodles!

So, I’m sorry Mr. Kyle for being a snarky beyotch when all it would have taken was a little looking on my part to find people saying lovely things about me.  Mwha!  I lurv you.

Two Reviews for Yeti! Were?

January 9th, 2008 by Celia

Okay, normally I don’t bludgeon ya’ll with reviews and whatnot, b/c I don’t usually get many.  *gasp*  Shocking, I know.  Ya see, reviewers can actually pick from bunches of books to review and from my previous life as a reviewer, I know that you don’t usually pick unknown authors.  So!  Two kickin’ peeps reviewed Yeti! Were?

First is Amy Wynn from ecataromance:

Sela is thrown into a meat locker by a jerk she rejected. But what would be a problem for a human is no problem for a werewolf. However, she does have a problem, well, a couple of problems. First, the moon is rising, so Sela either has to shift or have sex to stay human. This wouldn’t be an issue, except for the second problem. She’s locked in the freezer with someone who is more likely to kill her than screw her. A gorgeous giant, compelled by the cold, is shifting into a yeti and is very horny.

Yosi has hit the jackpot, no thanks to the sneaky wolf that locked him in the freezer. The cinnamon skin BBW that shares the locker with him is game for a little slap and tickle – well, not little, he is a yeti after all. So what will happen once the sun rises and the hormones are back under control?

Sela is a hoot. She faces each knock life gives her with a wise-cracking retort and she had me rolling as she dealt with Yosi when he was reduced to monosyllabic responses. Yosi lives up to his reputation as a yeti – focused and tenacious, and all of that is for Sela, if she can handle it. If you are looking for some fun in the sun, I mean locker, then pick up Yeti! Were?

Written by Amy Wynn – Visit Website

Dude!  She liked it!

Second is from Miss Dawn Montgomery, author extraordinaire:

There are very few books in the publishing world that really makes me want to run out and buy it based on a blurb. Then I read this on the coming soon page of Changeling Press:

On the night of the midnight moon, Sela finds herself locked in an industrial freezer, put there by none other than her alpha’s half-crazed brother. Content to spend her weekend as a wolf for her duration at the frozen prison, she doesn’t expect the whack job to thrust someone else in there with her. Now, faced with the choice of shifting and tearing into the yummy man’s hide or simply fucking through the lust frenzy that accompanies the midnight moon, Sela doesn’t know what to do. Decisions, decisions…

Yosi should have kept driving right through the town. He definitely shouldn’t have stopped for dinner at The Den. When the weaselly wolf, Ron, approached him, he told the man exactly what he thought of him. Which landed him in a nice stay at the local meat plant and a cozy room in their freezer. Not a good place for a yeti to be. Drastic changes in temperature from hot to cold make Yosi feral, and horny…

I started giggling like a schoolgirl immediately. This was going to be FUNNY. Celia Kyle is a really great lady and one of the most loyal and helpful individuals in this industry. She’s also a hilarious storyteller.

So without further ado, here’s my review of Yeti! Were?

Celia has developed a hilarious jaunt into a world where Weres and Yetis exist in a precarious balance. The wolves are raised on horror stories of Yeti violence and the Yeti consider wolves to be trouble. From the beginning I adored Sela. Strong willed, flawed, and irritated with pack mentality. She’s fluffy and adorable. Yosi, the Yeti, is fierce and loyal. With the Werewolf and the Yeti locked in a freezer, things get hot, fast. Celia brings the heat and I’m not afraid to say, this is my favorite title of hers, yet! If you’re in the mood for a hot read on a cold day, Yeti! Were? is not to be missed!

Come on, you know what’s coming, sing it with me….  Bow, chicka, bow bow…..  Ooooooh yeah.  Yay!  I’m sooo excited!  (<-Not in a valley girl kind of way)  Okay, that’s all I got for today.  These two kickin’ reviews popped up and I wanted to share.  :D

And She Missess! Kyllleeeee!!!!

January 7th, 2008 by Celia

Ugh.  I did not get any writing done.  Not. One. Word.  Actually, I take that back.  I did manage to write about 1k which was Chapter Five of Dead by Dawn.  But other than that hastily scribbled chapter, I didn’t write a bit last week.  Not even over the weekend.  Grrr…

Instead, I installed four wordpress websites I designed.  Check ‘em out:

www.vonnaharper.com
www.sheliago.powweb.com (Temp site, to be moved to her regular site today)
www.jannaleehayes.com
www.essencefantasies.info

Whew!  Miss Vonna’s was by far the hardest.  I don’t know where the woman finds the time to write so much!  Wow!

Oh!  I also did my good friend (and future writing partner) Shara’s site.  She’s still got some futzing to do with content, but it’s live!  www.shara-cooper.com  Ain’t it purty?

Hmmm….  Other news….  The winners of the Blast in the New scavenger hunt will be posted/emailed today.  Woo Hoo!  I’ve got another hunt planned for June.  I’m crossing my fingers that I’ll get a good turnout of authors and readers.  This time around we had 1500 entries.  Wow!  Again!

Anyway, wish me luck on getting some writing done this week.  Its become a have to thang.

FFF – Dead by Dawn Chapter Five

January 4th, 2008 by Celia

Hi All!

I’m cheating…  I’m giving you chapter five of Dead by Dawn since I had to write it anyway.  :D

————————–

Between one heartbeat and then next, he enveloped her in his arms and called to the darkness.  It wrapped around their entwined bodies, shielding them from the assailants while pulling them into another realm.  His realm.

Shadow dwellers, the souls of those dispatched by Shadow Demons, swirled around them as he navigated the midnight black world of the shadows.  He pulled her with him, fending off the hungry shadows, looking for a new body to inhabit.  There was a reason humans feared the dark, the shadowy corners on a midnight street.  Nothing a corporeal being could do would ever compare to the damage a hungry bodiless soul could impart on a human.  Nothing.

Her curves molded to him as they traveled and her pulled her tighter against his chest.  He could tell himself he wanted her close to protect her.  He could…  But that wasn’t why his cock throbbed and ached as the hardened nubs of her nipples dug into his chest.  Protection had nothing to do with the way she seemed to try to crawl beneath his skin as their bodies danced along the darkness.

They were solid, yet they were… not.  Something in between the two states.  Aware and able to move with one another, but not within a passing human’s scope of vision.  It was that anonymity that emboldened him, that let him take his pleasure while slinking among the soulless devils.

Isis slid her booted foot along his calf, wrapping her leg around his own.  The movement furthered his cause.  He tightened his hold around her waist, raising her the few precious inches until her hips cradled his dick.  The hardened flesh pulsed as her hips rocked against him, as if welcoming his touch.  And he wanted to touch.

She nibbled his neck, taking advantage of her new position and for once, he had to admit he liked a little bit of pain with his pleasure.  The sharp sting took the edge off and he mentally thanked her for pulling him back a step.

A shadow approached, he could feel the being’s heartless hunger as it slunk toward them.  He opened his eyes, letting the eerie white glow of his kind, well part of his kind, free to dispatch the would-be aggressor.  He didn’t want some bit of evil interrupting him now.  After all, Shadow Demons didn’t kill indiscriminately.  They came after those that deserved their form of punishment.

Isis laved the side of his neck, her arms tightened around his shoulders and she seemed to be practically crawling up his body.  He urged her leg higher to his hip, opening her to him fully.

Even with the layers of leather and jean that separated them, he could sense her heat.  Vincent imagined her pussy, soaked, throbbing and open for him moments before he plunged in deep and hard.  If possible, his cock lengthened further, hardened further.  Never before had he been this turned on by a woman, when navigating the shadows no less.

Her lips brushed the underside of his jaw and he finally gave in to temptation.  He tilted his chin and captured her lips with his own.  He didn’t give her a moment to adjust to the new intimacy.  He thrust his tongue between her lips into the warm cavern of her mouth.  She didn’t retreat.  No, she advanced and twined her tongue around his, stroking and sucking as she rubbed her pussy against his length.

Lord, any minute now he’d come in his jeans.  The combination of her pussy, just out of reach, and her magical lips and mouth strained his control.

Vincent couldn’t lose control.  Not know, at least.  Maybe when they’d reached his home and were protected by his men they could get lost in each other’s bodies.  Then thrust his cock deep into her pussy and freeze, reveling in the tight heat surrounding him.  She’d be impatient and rock her hips, begging him to continue.  He moaned as the image solidified in his mind.  Yes.

But now… now he had to keep alert.  Even with her tongue down his throat, he sensed another shadow approach.  Again, the process was repeated.  He released his inner demon to drive away the oncoming creature, driving it back to the darkness.  A woman such as Isis was a tasty morsel to the beings which inhabited the shadows.  Tasty indeed.

Before long, they neared his home.  He materialized before the front door just long enough gain entrance to the building.

On the outside, it looked like a dilapidated warehouse, but as they say, appearances can be deceiving.  His home, though bathed in darkness, never allowed souls into its walls.  It was a home shrouded in shadows, yet safe to any Shadow Demon who entered.

In seconds they broached his security and he thrust them into the darkness again.  Ah, the joys of being a Shadow Demon.  Travel from one point to the next was only as far away as the next bit of dark.

Before he released his next breath they were upstairs in his bedroom.  Then, and only then, did he release her, content that she was safe and that now he’d get what he’d been waiting for.

“Strip.”  His voice sounded rough, even to his own ears, but arousal and need always seemed to that to him.  Funny, with Isis, it seemed even worse than ever before.  He couldn’t explain his attraction to the pure beauty, but he’d be damned if he’d fight it.  Not if she was willing.  And her heat pressed against him, stroking his length as they traveled, proved she was willing.

Her answer, when it came, warred with her breathless pants.  “Yes.”

It’s a GOAL! Beckhammmmmm!!!!

January 3rd, 2008 by Celia

*snort*  That’s a bit of insider humor with Mr. Kyle.  He likes to play his soccer x-box game while I write and generally keeps the TV low, but the only things I truly do hear from the room are:  It’s a GOAL!!!!  and then:  Beckham!!!!!!!

LOL  Okay, so it doesn’t take much to amuse me, but when I thought about writing a “Goals for 2008″ post, I immediately thought of hubby playing the xbox.  :D

On to my goals for this year:

-Publish no less than eight works.  I mean, that will give me like four whole months off, right?

I’ve gotten started on this one already with today’s release, Yeti! Were?, from Changeling Press.  I’ve also got the following in the can and ready to roll:

Rookery Cove: Nipped from Changeling Press (Feb 2008)
Del Fantasma: Silk Panties from Aspen Mountain Press (Feb 2008)
Love Defined from Cobblestone Press (No clue as to release date)
Battered Not Broken from Liquid Silver Books (April 2008, maybe?)

I’ve also got two unsatisfied contracts from Changeling that I’ll be completing over the next few months:

Big, Blooming & Wild: Man-Grove (not started)
Madam Periwinkle’s Erotic Delights: Toys for Trish (not started)

Then there’s the uncontracted, but planned for a pub works:

Going Down? Anthology: What Goes Up (Half done)
Del Fantasma: Tie Me to the Bedpost for Aspen Mountain Press (Half *okay* quarter done)

Whew!

-Start my historical novel: The Devil’s Mark.  I’ve got this kinda cool historical idea that I’ve been tossing around.  You see, my heart is in historicals.  I lurv them.  Most notably, I love Julie Garwood.  Her quick pace and heroines who aren’t afraid of anything.  *sigh*  My idea is to combine my quirky, curvy ladies with a bit of history and some majorly hot boiking.  At the moment, it’s set in the medieval ages.

-Start (and possibly finish) my were story with a writing partner.  See, I’ve got this idea and since novels are daunting, I’m thinking that maybe it would be best to start this frist one with a partner.  Of course, I’ve got to find a partner first.  Not that I’ve been looking hard.  LOL  The problem:  I write by the seat of my pants which I’m not sure if that will bode well for partnered writing.  Yeah, I’m difficult.  *snort*

Well?  What are your goals?  If you don’t want to post all of them in the comments, at least give me a link so I can go read them for myself.  Gotta see how I measure up and all that.  ;)

Blah! OR I need to get to writing

January 2nd, 2008 by Celia

So, December… Ah, I had plans for December.  I was going to finish Tie Me to the Bedpost AND my shortie for the Going Down? Anthology.  Alas, I did neither.  I did, however, manage to write the first three chapters of Fiery Ember and submit those to Resplendence Publishing for consideration.  Now, those of you authors that are fussing at me for submitting something that wasn’t finished… hush.  They knew it wasn’t done.  I sent a query first and they asked for the first three when they were done.  Hopefully, by the time they get around to reading the first three, I’ll have the rest done.

My goal this week?  Write one chapter per night between now and Sunday.  That’s 10k between now and then.  It’s doable.  With luck, I’ll finish one of the three stories and then some.  *sigh*  THEN I’m going to start work on Man-grove, my next BBW alien shifter story for Changeling.  Now, that is one story I can’t wait to write.  It also just might have a sequel or two bouncing around in this head of mine.  ;)
